environmental system of grasslands. Grassland formations are one of the most important elements
for biodiversity conservation in the Marche Region. Grasslands are concentrated primarily in high
mountain areas and because of this, they are presented as “islands” that are more or less separated
from one another. Connection areas are the areas external to the nodes, whose state of
conservation affects the possibility (or not) of populations to expand, thereby allowing both the
survival within nodes and the flux of individuals between them. The grassland system does not
lead to significant contact with the urban and peri-urban settlement structure. The importance of
nodes for grassland communities is shown from yellow to violet . The grassland system outside the
nodes is shown in green
