In-Depth Information
social, technical and economic conditions in the niche are possible because everything
happens at the regional level. Thus, consultations and direct negotiations are possible
within the network of local actors, a process which would not be possible at the macro-
level of the food regime. Autonomy and quality, both components of the framework
niches based on AAFNs, are inseparable from the regional dimension of such a transition,
and can be understood as its key characteristics.
