complexity. It is probably the most complex visualization of early
medieval times, and concomitantly the most difficult to craft and
understand, even with direct reference to the associated text. Yet, this
visualization, and nearly all other illustrations in Boëthius's manuscript
were copied and disseminated throughout the Middle Ages, making
