Aonach Mor Named after a West Highland mountain, this basic but comfortable
guesthouse is located in a proud, if short, row of three-story Victorian terraced
houses. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city center, some of the rooms offer
views toward the impressive escarpment of Arthur's Seat.

Borough This boutique hotel southeast of the Meadows was designed by Brit-
ain's Ben Kelly, who was best known in the 1980s and 90s for designing the famous
Hacienda nightclub in Manchester. The rooms are admittedly on the small side,
but they are individually designed and at least have high ceilings and casement
windows as well as stylish looks. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor are
equally fashionable.

Elmview This luxurious bed-and-breakfast in a row of Victorian town houses is on
the edge of Bruntsfield Links, at the northwest corner of the Meadows. Each of the

this handsome three-story sandstone guesthouse is about a mile from the city center.
Not all of the units are large, but they tend toward the plush side—and are afford-
