Buffalo Bayou: Blue Lagoon
Trail
This downtown trail is located in the 23-acre Sabine-to-Bagby Waterfront Park. Due to its signature
lighting system, this is a trail that is best to hike at night. The lights change colors from white to blue
based on the phases of the moon. Much of the hike is below street level and passes the Theater District
as it explores both sides of Buffalo Bayou.
Distance: 2.4 mile out and back with a small loop
Approximate hiking time: 1.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy; paved surface and some stairs
Trail surface: Concrete
Best season: Year-round
Other trail users: Dog walkers, cyclists, tourists
Canine compatibility: Leashed dogs permitted
Fees and permits: No fees or permits required
Schedule: 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

In addition: There are no restroom facilities on the hike, but the aquarium complex al-
lows hikers to use their restrooms.
Finding the trailhead: Traveling south on I-45 toward downtown Houston, take the
Allen Parkway exit (47A) on the left. Turn right onto Sabine Street; go 1 block and then
turn right onto Memorial Drive. Continue half a block to city parking lot H. DeLorme:
