Buffalo Bayou: Tinsley Trail
This hike has a split personality. The Houston skyline is to the north. Allen Parkway and Memorial
Drive serve as north and south borders, and in between is the park with a large greenbelt area and Buf-
falo Bayou meandering through it. Sections of the hike offer a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the
city while still within it.
Distance: 2.4 miles out and back
Approximate hiking time: 1.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy; paved trail with minor elevation changes
Trail surface: Concrete, asphalt
Best season: Year-round
Other trail users: Dog walkers, joggers, cyclists
Canine compatibility: Leashed dogs permitted

In addition: Many high-attendance events are held in the park. Call in advance for a
schedule—the park will be crowded and parking difficult. There are no restrooms along
the trail.
Finding the trailhead: Traveling south on I-45 toward downtown Houston, take the
Allen Parkway exit (47A) on the left. Pass Sabine Street; the park entrance is immedi-
ately on the right. Turn right into the parking lot at 500 Allen Parkway. DeLorme: Texas
