Brays Bayou: Calhoun Road
to Scott Street
This loop follows Brays Bayou west, on the south side of the bayou, and then returns east, on the north
side of the bayou. The green space between the trail and road contains a surprising number of tree spe-
cies. There are residential areas on each side of the bayou. The sides of the bayou were paved in the
1970s prior to city planners realizing natural sides do a better job.
Distance: 2.4-mile loop
Approximate hiking time: 1.2 hours
Difficulty: Easy; paved trail and level ground
Trail surface: Asphalt

In addition: No restroom facilities or potable water available on the trail. There are facil-
ities at MacGregor Park.
Finding the trailhead: From downtown Houston take I-45 to the Spur 5 exit (exit
44B) and turn right onto Spur 5. Drive 1 mile and make a slight right turn onto Wheeler
Street. Turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Then turn right onto Calhoun
Road and turn into the MacGregor Park parking area at 5225 Calhoun Rd. DeLorme:
