NOTE: GPS coordinates have been provided for some milepoints. The trail goes
through dense woods with no signage and some sections have been blocked by trees
downed by Hurricane Ike in September 2008.

Start at the trailhead on the right at the south end of the parking lot and turn right onto the
trail.

Follow the trail east and immediately go into the woods.

Follow the trail, bearing left and then right, heading south. Pass clumps of ferns and a
NATURE TRAIL sign on the right.

Reach a Y; take the left branch, which leads through a clearing.

Follow the trail through a series of left and right meanderings. Reach an uprooted tree on
the right, marked by a sign that says WATER OAK (GPS: N29 49.178' / W95 38.135').
Bear left (southeast) at the sign and follow the trail past ferns on the right and left.

Pass a CEDAR ELM sign on the right (GPS: N29 49.178' / W95 38.135'). Bear left at the
sign; continue in an arc to the left (east), and then follow the trail south.

Follow the trail as it zigzags left, straight, and right.

Cross over a drain tile running across and under the trail.

Bear slightly right (southwest) through a swampy area. The trail continues to bend left and
right.

Reach a NATURE TRAIL sign on the right (GPS: N29 48.875' / W95 38.058').

Pass very large loblolly pine (over 3 feet in diameter and 80 feet tall) at trail's edge on the
right.

Go through a swampy area (depending on when it last rained) bearing left (east) and then
following the trail in semicircle to the left (north).

Follow the trail and bear hard right (east) (GPS: N29 48.902' / W95 37.887').

Follow the trail, making a hard left (northeast) and then the immediate right (east).

Follow the trail past some very large trees that were uprooted by Hurricane Ike. The trail
continues to meander left and right.

Continue straight on the trail and then take a hard right (north) (GPS: N29 49.148' / W95
37.575').

The trail bears left (west) and then follows a short semicircle route.

The trail zigzags and goes straight. Make a hard right (north) and then proceed west
(GPS: N29 49.277' / W95 37.840').
