In-Depth Information
green traces represent acoustic pressures measured at separate (piezoelectric)
transducers mounted on the standpipe. The required signal processing creates
the red waveforms shown, which compare favorably with the known input black
p inputs taken at the source, in both “noisy” and “very noisy” environments.

The descriptions in this section for Figures 5.10 - 5.18a,b provide only a brief
summary of the methodologies described in the recent topic Measurement While
Drilling Signal Analysis, Optimization and Design (Chin et al , 2014) and the
reader is encouraged to consult that reference for more rigorous explanations
and detailed results. The topic addresses many areas of modern interest that are
relevant to high-data-rate mud pulse telemetry and the system architecture
needed to pursue this ambitious endeavor.
