There are several ways to open files in Photoshop.
If you use the Bridge or Mini-Bridge , you can preview RAW images before opening them.
When you open a RAW file it will automatically open in Adobe Camera RAW — ACR.
ACR is very similar to the Develop Mode in Lightroom — it allows you to do significant
photo enhancements before actually opening the file.
File, Document, and Image are used interchangeably in this topic.
You can open a jpeg file as if it were a RAW file in order to use the ACR adjustments. This
also works with many other file formats.
You can create a new file from a number of Presets. You can also create your own Presets
for New Files.
Photoshop allows you to arrange your open files in a variety of ways.
Window > Arrange
Consolidate All to Tabs displays only one image at a time. The other open files are dis-
played by clicking on easily accessible tabs. This produces the largest display area for your
files.
