Preparing for Manufacturing
If you've done everything else correctly, preparation for release to manufacturing should
be a breeze. All you have to do is put together your manufacturing package:
Gerbers
NC drill file
Assembly drawings
Pick and place coordinates (or kit assembly instructions)
BOM, where the following information is provided for each part:
Part ID
Reference designators
Part type
Package footprint
Part value
Part tolerance (if important)
Part critical specification (if any)
Manufacturer part number
Vender part number
Alternate part sources (1, 2, 3, 4)
Test instructions
Once you go to manufacturing, it's inevitable that there will be additional questions
and inputs that will come back and change the design. If you've followed a good design
process, you'll be responsive and ready to tackle them.
