your ideas into solid hardware products. The ecosystem in Shenzhen
provides makers with advantages in aspects such as sourcing, manufac-
turing, and logistics to make hardware start-ups scale more easily.
Seeed Studio, an open source hardware company located in Shen-
zhen, is also accelerating the maker movement by helping people in
mainly three aspects. First, the company makes technologies accessible
to makers by providing corresponding open hardware modules for
makers to build projects. Second, it helps makers turn ideas into
products by providing Agile manufacturing services, including
sourcing, design, cutting costs, and logistics, among others. Last but
not least, Seeed Studio has helped spread the culture by building the
first maker space in Shenzhen, thereby providing a physical space and
platform for cross-field cooperation; as well as bringing Maker Faire to
Shenzhen, and encouraging communication between makers within
China and abroad.
As to the outcome of this movement, we hope to fill the gap between
makers and the supply chain system, making it easier for makers to ma-
terialize their creative ideas. We'll continually strive to build an open,
cooperative open source hardware ecosystem with global peer compan-
ies and partners from other fields. In the future, we hope those “Made
in China” stickers will turn into “Innovated with China” stickers.
