micro-gravity experiments and small satellite launches. Both Planet
Labs and Ardusat have used Nanoracks to launch their spacecraft from
the ISS. In case you're wondering how expensive the service is, note
that one of Nanoracks's first customers was a high school.
Copenhagen Suborbitals
One of the most daring projects I've ever seen is Copenhagen Suborbit-
als. This all-volunteer group located in Copenhagen has the audacious
goal to send a person into space on a home-made rocket. They post all
of their designs on their website so anyone else can follow along and
duplicate their efforts (Denmark doesn't have export controls like
ITAR). Although Copenhagen Suborbitals is a volunteer group, it could
easily be mistaken for a government backed program. The group even
accepts donations on its website ( www.CopenhagenSuborbitals.com ) in
case you want to contribute.
