Hardware Reference
In-Depth Information
Always provide a clear circuit diagram with your documentation. Photos alone don't
always paint the most concise picture of what's going on inside the folds of fabric. It can
be useful to draw a circuit diagram on top of an image of the garment, as shown in Figure
9.13 .

As described in Chapter 14 , Taxonomy of Hardware Documentation , clear photos and
videos are key to documenting any project, and that applies to wearables, too. Photograph
each step along the way. Work in a clean, well-lit area. You can even use a foot pedal to
trigger the camera's remote trigger for those two-handed action shots. Choose only the
clearest photos to document your process, and use editing software to crop and adjust
levels before uploading the photos to the web or otherwise including them in your docu-
mentation. Businesses might find it highly worthwhile to hire a professional photographer
for this purpose.
Video is also important for documenting your wearables project/product. Video puts
everything in context, makes your work relatable, and can provide quality instruction for
tricky techniques that are tough to capture in photos, such as turning a pocket inside out.
