Tools and Techniques
Many craft and electronics techniques can be researched independently online. Sometimes,
however, a weird hack or extra step is required when working with wearables, and docu-
menting those “gotchas” effectively is key to the user/viewer/reader's success.
For example, to carry current over a long distance, many strands of conductive thread
can be affixed to a textile by using a zigzag stitch (and plain thread) on a sewing machine
to capture conductive threads ( Figure 9.11 ) . You can then hand-stitch components to this
“bus.” When documenting your project, make sure that you show your techniques in ac-
tion and provide resources to help would-be users obtain more background information if
necessary.
