The Beaglebone Black case design by Guyc is licensed under Creative Com-
mons—Attribution, which means that I can use the design as long as I give credit to the
author. I can download the design, print, and install the board in the case and move on to
the projects I have planned, using the Beaglebone Black. This is a great example of how
using an existing open source hardware design speeds up development. The time that I
would have spent designing a case can now be spent on other development tasks.
Spend some time browsing all of the 3D design resources. When you find something
that piques your interest, download the design. Once you have the .STL file, follow the
directions for your 3D printer software on importing and processing the design for print-
ing. The software will turn your source 3D model into a file that is usable by your 3D
printer. See the instructions included with your 3D printer for further instructions on pro-
cessing the .STL file.
