Importing Your Board Outline
Once you've created a model of your circuit board, you can export a DXF of the board
outline and use one of several tools available for importing DXF files into Eagle. Unfortu-
nately, there are not many open, cross-platform solutions for this part of the process. The
most straightforward is Eagle PCB Power Tools 5 ( Figure 7.5a ), which generates an Eagle
script (SCR) file from a DXF file, but is a Windows-only stand-alone application. The
Eagle User Language Program (ULP) Import DXF Polygons 6 ( Figure 7.5b ) generates a
board outline directly in Eagle given a DXF file, but the tool imports only straight lines.
Thus, you must add anchor points to any curved outline via a vector graphics editor prior to
importing the DXF file. Tod Kurt has put together a helpful guide for using Illustrator in combination with this ULP. 7
