Opening hours vary wildly across businesses and services in İstanbul. The following is a
very general guide:
Post offices & banks 8.30am-noon, 1.30pm-5.30pm Monday-Friday
Shops 9am-7pm Monday-Saturday
Restaurants & cafes Breakfast 7.30am-10.30am, lunch noon-2.30pm, dinner
7.30pm-10pm
Bars Afternoon to early morning
Nightclubs 10pm till late
Customs Regulations
İstanbul's Atatürk International Airport uses the red and green channel system, randomly
spot-checking passengers' luggage. You're allowed to import the following without paying
duty:
Alcohol 1L of spirits, 2L of wine
Tobacco 600 cigarettes
Food 2kg of coffee, tea, chocolate or sugar products
Currency No limit
Other goods No more than €1500, but this varies by nationality
