Network Quality Monitoring
The core capability of the TEDA lies in CDR enrichment and de-duplication,
which are traditionally done with at-rest technologies through batch process-
ing. But processing CDRs immediately upon ingest yields some interesting
possibilities to gain additional value from the CDR data. Specifically, there is
data in CDRs that can facilitate network quality monitoring. As CDRs flow
through the graphs, the TEDA counts completed and dropped calls, along
with contextual data, such as provider, country, region, cell ID, termination
codes, and cell site. Using this data, the TEDA provides dashboards such as
the one depicted in Figure 9-6, which shows the current throughput of CDRs
ordered by region. Historical aggregations are stored in database tables for
future visualization in Cognos.
Customer Experience Indicators
Another benefit of the TEDA is the ability to track key indicators of customer
experience, most significantly, dropped calls. Using some of the enriched
CDR data that is added by the TEDA, you can view summaries about your
most important customers. Figure 9-7 shows a dashboard reporting on
dropped calls that were experienced by high-priority customers.
