set by defining a small window of time and performing a facet-based drill-
down into your logs. Figure 9-2 shows the faceted search interface, in which
search results are filtered by time range and a search term. On the left side of
the interface, you can select other categories to further refine the search results.

Of all the types of Big Data, none is as hyped and hotly debated as social
media. Marketeers salivate at the prospect of understanding what's being
said on Twitter about their brands. Because of this great demand, a cottage
industry has sprung up around the interpretation of social media messages.
We see this in the form of Twitter sentiment graphs during almost every
significant cultural event. For example, during the 2012 Summer Olympics,
the London Eye (the gigantic Ferris wheel on London's waterfront) was
illuminated with lights whose color reflected people's overall sentiment
around the games.
