The BigInsights Web Console
The BigInsights Development Tools
In addition to the Web Console, BigInsights includes a set of Eclipse plug-ins for
the development of applications that work with Big Data. This package of plug-
ins can be downloaded from the Web Console, complete with installation
instructions. This development tooling includes two Eclipse perspectives: BigIn-
sights (which is oriented toward developing data processing applications using
SQL, Jaql Hive, HBase, Pig, or MapReduce); and BigInsights Text Analytics
(which directs you through a workflow for building text analytics applications).
The Big Data platform comes with other perspectives as well, such as one for
building applications for IBM InfoSphere Streams.
The BigInsights development tools can connect to the Web Console to gain
cluster awareness. This enables developers to easily test and deploy applica-
tions, and to work directly with the cluster. In the upcoming section on analytics,
we show you how the BigInsights Web Console and the development tools
work together to provide a full lifecycle for building, testing, and deploying
applications.
