In-Depth Information
The 20 hours of the project in form of workshops, brainstorming sessions were
dedicated to:
development of creativity;
development of searching for inspiration;
development of hand drawing skills;
deconstruction of the object;
problem definition and statement;
simple prototyping;
designing with the use of computer-aided desidn.
The rest of the time was the project topic “Human Powered Transport” elaboration.
Below the various stages of conceptual design are presented on the example of
results of conduced Creative Design project.

Design Problem
One of the first stages of the conceptual design process is to understand the problem
and define the requirements and restrictions. Determination of the initial assumptions
is the key step in having a large impact on the final solution [9-11]. The term
assumptions may be made in the form of a number of questions to the problem, it may
allow a user to specify these requirements. The aim of the project was presented
transport using human muscle power. Below are the key assumption to the project
design:
￿
Environment amphibious = Amphibian;
￿
Drive system = variable speed drive mechanism by bicycle pedals;
￿
Design forms = buoyancy achieved by shape;
￿
Design = central frame in conjunction with the form of monococque;
￿
Drive = Circle Road in conjunction with the spokes on the model of the rotor.

Inspiration - Generating Solutions
The next stage of the project is to generate solutions. At this stage, it is advisable to
seek solutions through inspiration from nature. Nature and science - these seemingly
distant fields are together in close relationships, for centuries influencing each other.
If we look more closely at a number of the greatest human achievements, we can
easily find in them a strong inspiration from nature.
For centuries, philosophers and biologists have been reminding us how much we
can learn from nature. It is difficult to answer the question of how many scientific and
technical achievements humans owe the observation of nature. The famous Newton's
falling apple inspired the creation of the concept of gravity. Observation of birds in
flight aerodynamics allowed the Wright brothers to become the aviation pioneers. The
relationship of nature and science are obvious and we meet them at every step of daily
life. Thus, the inspiration process was one of the key issues of the Creative Design
project. By the designing of the human-powered transport students were searching for
