In-Depth Information
The essential matter in remote control of industrial robots is security of con-
nection. Ones should protect and secure the connection and transferred data
against hacking, interference or other risks. In the paper several applications,
unnecessarily dedicated for remote control of industrial robot were tested. Differ-
ent solutions were tested in similar conditions to compare their performance and
reliability. Communication with the S7-300 by means of mobile devices proved
to be effective, it was possible to carry out communication between a PC station
and the robot controller.
With the help of the control program written in Labview software robot were
controlled automatically with a computer. There were no technical problems,
and the data exchange was at an appropriate level.
The work was limited to only one type of industrial robot (Fanuc ArcMate
100iC) but the proposed scheme seems to be universal one and transferable to
other platforms or various environment. Apart from that the realized applica-
tions are not a real-time systems and there are some lags in the communication
process. Time delay in this case is not significant and provides sucient safety.
Engineers should develop the remote control systems to improve the time re-
sponse and reliability. Remote robot control of industrial robots will enlarge
its use and offer new functionalities. It will be possible to control robots from
everywhere where connections will be available.
Future works will concern new industrial and medical applications of the de-
veloped remote control system and will develop authors' software for this pur-
pose. In addition the shown system of communication will be implemented in
applications connected with road safety [1, 7, 8, 11] or in systems optimizing
vibrations [2, 17-27]. A highly important issue is to deliver suitable reliability
and high safety level in those systems. In this case it can be find literature
positions concerning qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation the reli-
ability structure for complex technical systems e.g. [4-6]. The tested applications
shown that the proposed solution using non-dedicated apps is sucient to re-
mote control of industrial robots and does not require a large financial outlay.
The big advantage of the proposed solutions is the possibility of simultaneous
access to the robot information in numerous devices.
