rotation has very little effect on the structure at the top of the X-brace. It
is important, however, that the uplift, down-thrust, and structural move-
ment be contained adequately so that the structure does not suffer pre-
mature failure when subject to unanticipated loads and as a result of
twisting the structure (see Fig. 10-1).
MATERIAL
The test structure should be made of materials that are representative
of the materials that will be used in the production structures. Material
test results should be available for each important member in the test
structure. All test structure material should conform to the requirements
of the material specifi ed in design.
MANUFACTURE
Manufacture of the prototype structure for testing should be done in
the same manner and to the same tolerances and quality control as speci-
fi ed for the production structures.
