Wet Streets and Cobblestones
This one is a quickie that lets you turn a dry cobblestone or asphalt street into a wet cobble-
stone or asphalt street. I showed this technique on a live webcast I did about travel photo-
graphy editing techniques, and a month later people were still asking about it. So, I wanted
to include it here in the topic. What I love best is that it's quick, easy, and it usually works.
Step One:
You need to do this one in Camera Raw, but don't worry, even if you didn't shoot your
image in RAW (this image is a JPEG I shot nine years ago), you can still use Camera Raw
to edit the shot. With the image open in Photoshop, go under the Filter menu and choose
Camera Raw Filter to open in the image in Camera Raw (as seen here). Go ahead and
make any regular tweaks to the image while you're here in the Basic panel. Here, I in-
creasedtheExposure,andthenShift-clickedontheWhitesandBlackssliderstohaveCam-
era Raw automatically set the white and black points. I also increased the Vibrance a bit
because the photo is just so gray. But the real question is: what's in the bag? A baguette?
Wine? A beret?
