Step Four:
Now, what would you do if the Remove Ghosts checkbox just didn't work at all and you
still had lots of ghosting? Then you'd use a similar trick to the one you learned in “Creating
a Blended HDR” earlier in this chapter. You'd create the regular HDR image first. Then,
you'd copy-and-paste the original on top, Option-click (PC: Alt-click) on the Add Layer
Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers panel to hide this original image behind a black
mask, get the Brush tool (B) , and choose a small, soft-edged brush. Set your Foreground
color to white and paint over the person that is ghosting, and as you paint, it paints the ori-
ginal person from the single still image back in (it worksreally well, actually). Ifthe person
you just pasted in looks “too normal,” then start over, but before you copy-and-paste the
original on top, apply the single-image HDR look from page 178 to the image first. That
way, it will look more HDR when you paint him in.
