Creating a Blended HDR to Get the Best of Both Worlds
There are great things about HDR (it's amazing how it brings out details and enhances tex-
ture in things like wood, tile, metal, etc.), but there are a lot of things that look awful in
HDR(treesstarttolookplastic, whitecloudsgetdropshadowsandstarttoturnblack,etc.).
So, what if you could create a hybrid, where you get the best things from HDR blended
with the best things from a normal single image? Well, this is how to get the best of both
worlds by blending the original with the HDR, and best of all, you have full control over
how they blend.
Step One:
Select your images in Bridge, then go under the Tools menu, under Photoshop, and choose
Merge to HDR Pro . When the Merge to HDR Pro dialog appears, go ahead and choose
the Scott5 preset from the Preset pop-up menu at the top right of the dialog. Then, turn on
the Edge Smoothness checkbox (as seen here) to reduce some of the harsh edges.
