8.4.2. Initial Qualitative Comparison of Profiles
The next step after processing each MODIS image and simulating the water quality parameters for the
corresponding dates is the analytical comparison of each image pattern and its corresponding model
pattern. McKee et al. (2004), developed a linear relationship between band 1 (620 - 670 nm) of
MODIS Terra and in situ measurements of TSM, providing evidence of the transport and fate of
material in coastal environments. Therefore, based on this linear relation the MODIS band 1 image
was selected for the initial comparison of image and model patterns. Two sections were selected to
develop profiles for comparison. The first section is from north-east to south-west direction, and the
other is from south east to North West direction. Figure (8-5) shows the profiles for comparing the
image and the model. The two images are staked using the model raster image and band one (B1) of
