) Set on its own thin ribbon of cream-colored sand, this sprawling brick resort has 350
rooms, four pools, two hot tubs and an upscale three-star feel. There's a full spa and ser-
vice is excellent across the board. You'll pay more for a room with a view, but overall it's
a good value.

rice and salad. Even better: pack fresh, wild opah, ono, mahi or ahi - sold at the best
prices on island - and grill it yourself. Call for takeout orders.

Hidden in a strip mall, this no-frills eatery serves steaming bowls of well-made pho (Vi-
etnamese noodle soup). Meat and veggie options include curry chicken, grilled shrimp,
snow peas and eggplant. Or ditch the soup in favor of a rice dish topped with shredded
and grilled pork, or a plate of stir-fried vermicelli noodles. Cash only.

ing pie vendor who graces farmers markets across the island has her commercial baking
operation with attached shop in a Lihuʻe industrial park. Sniff and watch pies shape and
rise as you order your savory pot pie to take and bake, or a sweet pie by the slice or
whole. Hint: the lilikoʻi (passion fruit) chiffon is heart-achingly glorious.
