The pointy clutch of rocks sticking out as the road swings left before mile marker 21 is
called Rock Point MAP (aka Pohakuloa Point). This popular surf spot is the site of local
competitions and it's the place to go if you're looking for east-end breaks. The recent
burst of creativity in place names extends to the fine little swimming cove about 500yd
beyond mile marker 21: Sandy Beach . Look for a taro farm back in a verdant notch in
the coast near here.
Sleeping
Some of Molokaʻi's more popular rental houses are here. All offer your own little stretch
of reef-protected beach, lots of priv-acy and nighttime views of the resorts, shops and
traffic jams of Kaʻanapali (Maui) flickering across the Pailolo Channel.

cation cottages near the 18-mile marker. Each cottage sleeps four people and comes with
a fully equipped kitchen, TV, ceiling fans, laundry, lanai and BBQ grills. The Puʻunana
unit sits on stilts, while Pauwalu is more grounded. Both have good views and a three-
night minimum.

surprises. Rooms follow one after another until you realize you've got three bedrooms

usual DVD, BBQ etc. The grassy yard backs up to a narrow palm-shaded beach.
