In-Depth Information
HANA & EAST MAUI
Where do Mauians go when they want to get away? Raw and rugged East Maui, the most
isolated side of the island. Instead of golf courses and beach resorts, you'll see a place
that's barely changed a speck for tourism. In time-honored Hana, you'll relearn the
meaning of s-l-o-w, and talk story with people who actually take the time. Beyond Hana
lie fantastical waterfalls, stop-for-a-dip swimming holes and off-the-grid farms. Don't
miss an adventurous romp through the cowboy village of Kaupo.

Hana
POP 1235
When you reach Travaasa Hana, hit the brakes. If you continue another block or two,
you'll already be leaving town. That's the biggest surprise about Hana - after the spec-
tacular drive to get here, the place is actually a bit of a sleeper. Cows graze lazily in
green pastures stretching up the hillsides. Neighbors chat over plate lunches at the beach.
Even at Hana's legendary hotel, the emphasis is on relaxation.
