Several companies in Lahaina offer surfing lessons. Some guarantee you'll be able to
ride a wave after a two-hour lesson or the class is free. Rates vary depending upon the
number of people in the group and the length of the lesson, but for a two-hour class ex-
pect to pay about $65 in a small group or $150 for private instruction.
Maui Surf Clinics

surfing school on the island is owned by Nancy Emerson, who was winning international
surfing contests by the time she was 14. Maui Surf offers one-, two- and five-hour les-
sons as well as three-day clinics. The office is available by phone until 8pm.
