sheltered by thatched roofs, are open to the air, but privately sealed off from prying eyes.

Big Island Yoga Center YOGA
MAP
( 329-9642; www.bigislandyoga.com ; 81-6623 Mamalahoa Hwy; class adult $14) For Iyengar
yoga, Big Island Yoga Center is the place. The bright studio occupies the 2nd floor of a
beautiful old house, and is stocked with mats and props. There's a donation class at
8:30am on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 10:30am also on Saturdays.

Pineapple Park HOSTEL $
MAP
( 877-800-3800, 323-2224; www.pineapple-park.com ; 81-6363 Mamalahoa Hwy; dm $25, r
shared/private bathroom $65/85; office 7am-8pm; ) South Kona's only hostel is a
basic backpacker dive run by a friendly if iron-willed Korean proprietress. It definitely
has that social hostel-like vibe, which makes up for the cramped dorms (No 10 is best)
and fresher, more comfortable (but overpriced) private rooms. Bathrooms are shared.
Rainbow Plantation Bed & Breakfast Inn B&B $
MAP
( 323-2393; www.rainbowplantation.com ; 6327 Mamalahoa Hwy; r $89-109) An eclectic little
B&B is concealed on this 3-acre macadamia-and-coffee farm, inhabited by tropical birds,
koi fish and burping frogs. The ground-floor rooms are heavy on plant decor and are
comfy, but we love the airy upper unit 'Crow's Nest'. Located makai (seaside) between
mile markers 110 and 111; look for the (appropriately) rainbow-colored sign.
