Getting There & Around
Outside of weekday morning and afternoon rush hours, it's normally a 25-minute drive
between Honolulu and Kailua along the Pali Hwy (Hwy 61).
From Honolulu's Ala Moana Center, TheBus routes 56 and 57 run over the pali to
downtown Kailua (40 to 50 minutes, one to three hourly). TheBus 57 continues from
Kailua to Waimanalo (20 minutes) and sometimes Sea Life Park (30 minutes). For
Kailua Beach or Lanikai, transfer in downtown Kailua at the corner of Kailua Rd and
Oneawa St to TheBus 70 (every 60 to 90 minutes).
Kailua Sailboards & Kayaks, Inc ( Click here ) rents single-speed beach cruisers (per
half-day/full day/week $20/25/85) not far from Kailua Beach Park. Bicycle rentals are
