Safe Travel
Hawaii is generally a safe place to visit. Because tourism is so important, state officials
have established the
Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii
(VASH; 926-8274;
www.visitoralohasocietyofhawaii.org
), which provides non-monetary emergency aid to vis-
itors who become the victims of accidents or crimes while vacationing. To qualify for
VASH assistance, you must have a round-trip ticket back to the US mainland or abroad
and be staying in Hawaii for less than 60 days.
