( 742-5000; www.roysrestaurant.com ; 2360 Kiahuna Plantation Dr, Poʻipu Shopping Village;
mains $26-43; 5:30-9:30pm) Still wildly popular, though a link in a high-end national
chain, Roy's continues to please the foodies. Signature dishes include melt-in-your-
mouth misoyaki (miso-marinated) butterfish and pesto-steamed ono (white-fleshed wa-
hoo) sizzled in cilantro-ginger-peanut oil, as well as a plethora of similarly original fu-
sion dishes. The setting, however, is shopping mall chic.

mains $10-15, mains $24-60; bar 11:30am-10pm, dining room 5:30-10pm) Join the casual
crowd downstairs for pizza and gourmet burgers in their charming, and, at times, rollick-
ing bar that spills onto the plaza. Or you can climb to the upscale seafood house where
the raw bar comes stocked with poke and sashimi, and the ahi, mahi and ono are served
either wok-charred, herb-grilled or macadamia-crusted.

( 742-2323; www.livingfoodskauai.com ; 2829 Ala Kalanikaumaka St, Shops at Kukuiʻula; mains
$10-18; 7am-8pm, cafe to 4pm) Aptly tagged 'high dollar market' by locals, it's never-
theless a damn appetizing depot for gourmet groceries including imported cheeses, or-
ganic meats, fine wines, local produce and organic health and beauty staples. The cafe
offers paninis, tasty pizzas (try the breakfast pizza), brioche French toast as well as a ter-
rific coffee bar.

(2827 Poʻipu Rd, Poʻipu Plaza; 8am-8:30pm Mon-Fri, to 6:30pm Sat & Sun) This indie super-
market resembles a bodega from the outside, but stocks a good selection of basics and
decent cuts of beef and ahi, though the produce section could use some love.
