Kilauea
POP 2803
Many North Shore visitors treat Kilauea - a working- and middle-class community that
runs far deeper than it first appears - as an ephemeral stop in which to gas up, grab lunch
and snap a few photographs on their way north. Perhaps they're a little too hasty.
The most northern point of the island offers lush vegetation, a tasty fish market, a
scenic wildlife refuge, two terrific yoga studios, sustainable farms and arguably the is-
land's best beach. A 'secret' no longer, and well-located to reach the end of the highway
in one direction and the busier eastside in the other, Kilauea is KauaŹ»i's undercover sweet
spot.
