Getting There & Around
Lihuʻe's focal points are Nawiliwili Bay, the island's only major harbor, and Lihuʻe air-
port, the island's only major airport. Rice St, considered the town's main drag, runs
east-west and passes the government buildings and post office, while Kuhio Hwy (Hwy
56) leads to shops and restaurants toward the north, and Kukui Grove Shopping Center
( Click here ) to the south.
The Kauaʻi Bus ( 241-6410; www.kauai.gov/Government/Departments/TransportationA-
gency/BusSchedules/tabid/208/Default.aspx ) serves Lihuʻe hourly from 6am to about 10pm,
with stops at major destinations such as Kukui Grove Shopping Center, Lihuʻe airport,
Vidinha Stadium, Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Big Save. In addition, there is a lunch
shuttle that runs at 15-minute intervals within central Lihuʻe between 10:30am and 2pm
on weekdays.
Kauaʻi is car dependent, so most businesses have parking lots, and street parking is relat-
ively easy to find. Metered parking in Lihuʻe costs 25¢ for 30 minutes.
