1. Open a new Flash document.
2. From the Properties panel, set the FPS rate to 30 and the dimensions to
400px × 400px.
3. Choose File > Import > Import to Stage.
4. Navigate to PsdFlash.psd (on the website at http://www.photoshop3d.
net/downloads/); double-click.
5. The PSD import dialog box appears. The left section of the dialog box
includes the imported PSD layers and folder. Next to each layer, a box
lets you choose the imported layers. To the right of each layer is an icon
that identiies the type of the layer as bitmap, text, and so on.
6. Under the Layers list, the Merge Layers button allows you to merge two
or more layers. To merge any number of layers, use the Shift key to
select the layers, and click the Merge Layer button. When you select any
layer, the layer options appear at the right side of the dialog box, and
the irst option is to select how the layer will be imported. These
options depend on the type of the original layer:
Bitmap image with editable layer styles is for bitmaps. If the layer
has a style applied to it, it will be separated in another layer.
Flattened bitmap image is for bitmaps as well, and lattens the layer
with the style applied to it or converts the text and vector layers to
bitmap images.
Editable text applies to text and allows to import the text as editable
text in Flash.
Vector outline imports the text as vector lines.
Editable paths and layer styles imports the vector layers as editable
paths.
7. The Create Movie Clip for Layer checkbox lets you convert the layer to a
movie clip and give it an instance name for ActionScript programming.
The registration point area sets the center point of the movie clip.
8. The Publish settings set the compression and the quality of published
the images as following:
The compression option can be either Lossy or Lossless. The Lossy
option is used in images, and the Lossless option is used for
text layers.
The Quality options let you choose to use the publishing settings
that you can ind when you publish the Flash movie or set a custom
Quality value for each layer.
The Calculate Bitmap Size option provides an estimate of the size of
the layer after compression.
9. The Convert Layers to drop-down list lets you choose to either convert
the imported layer to frames or to layers.
10. Place Layers at Original Position imports the layers to the same position
as in the original Photoshop document.
11. You can also change the current stage to have the same dimensions
of the imported Photoshop ile by choosing Set Stage Size as
Photoshop Canvas.

to the Flash stage by
pressing CTRL + R
(CMD + R on the Mac).
