In-Depth Information
Note: The Canvas Size option can crop or extend your ile size without
stretching its content, but note that when the ile is cropped, you might
ind that some of your graphic element such as the background gets cut as
well. However, you have to consider this while doing the cropping. For
example, the cropped version can contain only the important elements in
your design or you can ix the background to look similar to your design
before cropping.
Number of Frames
When you export a Photoshop animation as an image sequence, the
exported frame may be too large and afect the total size of the animation
and the processing for this amount of sequence, especially when you are
working in web animation. The best method to optimize the exported
frame sequence to Flash is to manage the number of exported frames in
Photoshop. This method helps to maintain the number of exported frames
and gives you more control over the animation. For example, you can drop
speciic frames in the animation to help reduce size and increase
performance.
Optimizing the number of frames depends on reducing the fps rate, which
subsequently afects the speed of the animation. However, you have to be
careful when reducing the fps rate of the animation so as to not afect the
output animation low.
In Photoshop, you can reduce the fps rate through the Timeline panel or the
Video Render dialog box. To change the fps rate through the Timeline:
1. Open the Timeline panel context menu.
2. Choose Document Settings to open the Document Timeline Settings
(Figure 14.5).
3. You can select a frame rate from the drop-down menu to set the fps to any
of the standards rates or you can add a custom fps rate in the fps ield.
Note: When you render
your Photoshop
animation, make sure
the work area does not
have repeated frames
at the end of the
animation or empty
frames unless they are
needed. Such frames
will increase the ile size
unnecessarily.

The other method to change the fps rate of the animation is through the
Render Option in the Render Video dialog box.
Importing File to Flash as Sequence Images
As mentioned earlier, there are two methods to import Photoshop animation
in Flash: you can import it either as a sequence of images or as video
