In-Depth Information
Because we need the Spot light to provide the efect of light from a lightbulb
that is falling over the table, we will set to be brighter and more focused on
the table:
Figure 9.8   The inal light efect for
the 3D lightbulb scene.
1. Select the 3D table layer.
2. Select the Spot light from the 3D panel.
3. Change the Intensity value to 3 to make the falling light bright and
appear as if it is coming from a nearby source.
4. Set the Hotspot to 25 degrees; this value reduces the gradually fading
areas on the Spot light circles over the table.
5. Set the Fallof value to 50 degrees to light a wider area of the table.
6. Set the render quality to Ray Traced Draft or Final from the Scene section
in the 3D panel to be able to see the inal light and shadows applied to
the object.
Though following these steps will provide you with a good understanding of
how to use lights to create diferent efects, lighting is actually an
experimental process. You should try diferent options and combinations of
options to see the inal result and diferent efects that you can create with
light.
Light options can totally change the quality and the look of your scene. For
example, you can use light to create a realistic efect by applying the real-life
light efects, or to apply dramatic efects and unusual light to give your 3D
scene or object a special efect.
