Working with Light
Light is the main language between the human eye and the objects around
it. When light falls on an object and relects to the human eye, how it relects
is based on many factors, such as the object's volume, surface texture,
materials, and colors. Light is the main tool of the eye in determining the
object's volume.
When light falls on 3D objects, it relects based on the 3D object's shape,
which creates light areas and shadowed areas. The diferences between light
and shadow create the object's or the scene's depth. Light is thus one of the
major factors to consider when building 3D objects and scenes.
Light is an important function not only in displaying the object, but also in
rendering the object. The render process calculates the light in 3D scenes
based on its type and quality. Rendering light is one of the most resource-
intensive processes, especially when you employ high-quality rendering
techniques such as ray-trace rendering.
Light sources afect 3D objects and scenes diferently based on the type and
properties of the light, such as intensity and color. Photoshop includes three
