In-Depth Information
Refraction: This value is applied when you choose the Ray Traced option
in the render setting, and it is apparent when two objects intersect that
have a diferent refraction value.
The Materials section in the 3D panel includes a number of material presets
in the Material Picker, which lets you choose from diferent ready materials.
When you click the arrow next to the Material Picker, a list of the available
material presets appear; choose any of the materials by just clicking on them.
The Materials Picker context menu provides the following additional
commands to control the material presets or add new materials:
• The New Materials command lets you create new materials and save
them for later use.
• Delete All Materials removes the current materials from the presets list.
Reset Materials reverts the material list to the default materials.
Load Materials opens material iles, which are saved in the P3M format.
Save Material saves the current custom material in the P3M format.
Replace Materials replaces the current materials in the Material Picker
with other materials in the P3M format.
In addition to the materials listed as Material Picker presets, you can
download extra materials from the Photos 3D resources site via 3D > Browse
3D Content Online. This command opens the Photoshop 3D resources page
in your browser, from which you can download 3D resources and extra
materials that you can then load into the Material Picker list. These include a
variety of materials such as Wood, Metal, Rock, Plastic, and others.
After you download the extra materials in the ZXP format, double-click to
import them into Photoshop through the Adobe Extension Manager CS5.
You can add them to the current materials in the Material Picker list by
choosing the material type you would like to append from the Material
Picker context menu. To add the extra materials to the Material Picker list,
follow these steps:
1. Open the Material Picker in the 3D panel.
2. In the context menu, select the material type you would like to load.
3. An alert message appears, allowing you to choose either to replace the
current materials in the Material Picker or append the new materials to
the old one. Choose Append to keep both type of materials available.
You can apply any of the materials to the 3D model by selecting the 3D layer
of the model and clicking the material.
In addition to the previously listed commands, you can choose to display
either the default materials or the Ray Traced materials. The Default materials
list is heavily dependent on the Ray Trace rendering. It can include some
light information, but the Ray Traced materials are still a better choice for
better quality and light efects.
