5. An alert message appears to ask you to rasterize the text layer to be able
to apply the Repoussé efect. Click OK to convert it. This is done because
it would be computationally expensive to keep the text layer as editable;
if a user ever went to edit it, you would essentially be working with a
diferent mesh geometry. Imagine deleting the whole string and
changing it—how would we reapply all the settings to accomplish the
same look?

I will discuss the Repoussé dialog box later in more detail.
When you apply a mask to a layer using the Layer Mask option, you can
extrude the masked area of the layer and covert it to 3D object:
1. Create a new layer in Photoshop.
2. Fill it with a color.
3. Create a selection over the layer.
4. Select the mask by clicking the Mask icon in the bottom left in the
Layer panel.
5. While the mask layer is selected, choose Layer Mask from the Repoussé
section of the 3D menu.
Using the Selected Path option, when you create a path that is over an
object or illed with color, you can create a Repoussé using this path:
Note: For sharper lines
and better results, use
the selection-based
Repoussé instead of the
mask-based option.
1. Create a new layer in Photoshop.
2. Choose the Custom tool.
3. Select a shape from the custom shapes.
