groovy was created to give Java features that it did not have. It was given the power to
run as scripts. It takes many of the hard parts of programming and makes them go away.
It holds a chair and a whip up to unruly Java libraries and makes them more docile. They
were not thinking of us in the Essbase world when they created all this, but it is hard to
imagine their work could have resulted in a better match for us. I hope you will learn to
use groovy, that it will be fun, and that it will help you be a better developer. I hope it
will make you happy.
