HTML and CSS Reference
In-Depth Information
Appendix A. HTML Media Frameworks and Tools
It's actually quite a bit of fun coding a media controller. However, sometimes we don't have
the time or the inclination (or enough familiarity with JavaScript) to create our own media
custom controls and other applications. That's when we look to see what others have already
created that we can use.
As new as HTML5 media elements are, there are already several different useful libraries,
plug-ins, and applications for working with HTML5 media elements. This appendix briefly
outlines some of the more interesting I've found.
Subtitle/Caption Rendering Library
The only library I tested that manages subtitles and captions and that isn't also a video player
is Captionator. I covered Captionator in Chapter , and you can download the code and find out
more about the project at https://github.com/cgiffard/Captionator .
