Toy products are expected to be a big market for 3D printed products, but the big names
are still in the experiment phase. Disney has done experiments with 3D printed customized
speakers and teddy bears. Hasbro has joined up with 3D Systems and is pondering the pos-
sibilities of 3D printing, while Lego still does not know whether they should see 3D print-
ing as a threat or an opportunity. Many of the big names in the toy industry are still only us-
ing 3D printing for prototyping and it is the smaller companies like Makielab, which makes
personalized dolls, that take the lead in 3D printing toy innovation.
