Sculpteo : Sculpteo is a French 3D printing service which like Shapeways and Ponoko is
mainly oriented at consumers and hobbyists. Sculpteo was founded in 2009, has over 20
employees and a subsidiary in San Francisco.
Shapeways : Shapeways was founded in Netherlands in 2007 as a startup in Philips incub-
ator program. In 2012 Shapeways opened up a 3D printing shop in New York. The com-
pany employs around 100 people and is more consumer and makers-oriented than compan-
ies like Materialise or Layerwise. At Shapeways customers can print their own designs or
print already existing designs which are offered in Shapeways print-on-demand designer
shops.
Solid Concepts : Claims to be the biggest 3D printing service bureau in North America.
Solid Concepts offers a wide variety of 3D printing techniques such as Polyjet, plastic and
metal laser sintering, stereolithography and FDM. SC was founded in 1991 and has ex-
tensive experience in aerospace, automotive, industry, medical etc. This company is also
infamous for selling a 3D-printed gun. Solid Concepts was acquired by Stratasys in 2014.
Spring SRL : Società Progettazione Ingegnerizzazione SRL is an Italian 3D printing ser-
vice bureau which primarily uses Stratasys FDM printers. The large part of the services for
their clients is for direct manufacturing and a smaller part is prototyping. They have cus-
tomers in areas such as racing, aerospace and medical.
3D Hubs : This Netherlands based company manages a worldwide network of 3D printer
owners through their website. Their service enables you to find a local printer just like
Ponoko does.
3D Materials Technologies : 3DMT is a division of ARC Group Worldwide which exclus-
ively offers 3D printing for prototyping and manufacturing. 3DMT's available technologies
include: Direct Metal Laser Sintering, Stereolithography, Fused Deposition Modeling and
Polyjet.
3T RPD : 3T RPD Ltd. is a UK 3D service provider which was founded in 1999. As for
the 3d printing services and prototyping sector, they claim to hold a 50 % share of the 3D
printing plastics market in the UK, and a 40 % share of the metal market.
