The Labour Challenge - it Could be WWOOFers
Much of food tourism is seasonal and one of the biggest challenges is get-
ting labour, especially the right labour. One source for organic farmers is the
WWOOF organization, Willing Workers on Organic Farms (
www.wwoof.
com.au
). This is an organization that connects mostly overseas backpackers
and travellers with relevant farms. This is a labour pool of young people who
could help develop food tourism activities during busy periods. The farm
should provide
4-6
h work and provide meals and accommodation for the
workers. Other schemes for non-organic farms such as HelpX (
www.helpx.
net
)
, Backpacker Job Board (
www.backpackerjobboard.com.au
)
, The Job
Shop (
www.thejobshop.com.au)
, Backpackerboard (

com
)
, Nomads World (
http://nomadsworld.com)
and Workstay (
www.
workstay.com.au)
are available around the world and should be researched
for suitability.
