Ferran Adrià has closed his world famous restaurant in Spain and
opened a museum and visitor centre called ElBulli 1846 (

This celebrates the 1846 dishes created at his elBulli restaurant and the year
that Auguste Escoffier was born. The museum aims to attract some
200,000
people a year. The elBulli Foundation draws inspiration from the Cirque du
Soleil, Salvador Dali and his museum in nearby Figueres, and MIT's Media
Lab. The capital to build this venture was €6 million and it takes €3 million
a year in revenue, which proves the confidence that Ferran has in the future
of food tourism.
